Requirements: Studies of Modern Society: 1798 to the Present
1. Three papers (each seven pages double-spaced) (30 % each)
2. Classroom presentation, attendance and participation (10%)
The presentation is no longer than ten minutes. Rather than delivering a mere summary of the readings, students are expected to explore a specific theme or thesis in relation to a thinker of interest. Students prepare a one-page outline of the presentation, to be distributed to the entire class on the day of their presentation. At the end of the presentation students pose three questions for discussion. Students need to email me the presentation and the questions at least tow days before their presentation to obtain my approval.
